Strengthening Brotherhood And Sisterhood: Our First Chapter Prayer Assembly For 2025

On February 8, 2025, our Youth For Christ (YFC) members gathered for their first Chapter Prayer Assembly (CPA) of the year. The highlight of the event was the talk entitled “Buddy Watch”, a theme centred on accountability, brotherhood and sisterhood, and the importance of walking together in faith.
The CPA kicked off with Christine and Alyanna as the lively emcees, setting a warm and enthusiastic tone for the gathering. They introduced Lance as the worship leader, adding a touch of humor to lighten the atmosphere.

With the support of our Music Ministry, Lance led a meaningful Praise and Worship, encouraging everyone to let go of anything hindering them from loving others—especially their family and fellow YFC members—and to embrace the freedom to love as Jesus did.

Breaking the Ice: A Fun and Fresh Game
After worship, Carylle and Franz took over as game masters, leading the group into a unique icebreaker called “3, 6, 9.”
The rules were simple yet tricky:
YFCs took turns counting aloud, but for numbers containing 3, 6, or 9, they had to replace the number with a specific action:
“Dab” for 3, “Pose” for 6, and “Jump” for 9.
Anyone who made a mistake had to restart the game from the centre of the circle.
It was an exciting and fresh experience, bringing tons of laughter, energy, and camaraderie among the YFCs.

The Heart of the Prayer Assembly: ‘Buddy Watch’ Talk
As the emcees transitioned into the main talk, they introduced Zoe, who was warmly welcomed as the speaker. She began by anchoring the session with the verse:
“You are never alone.” – John 15:13
The talk aimed to:
✅ Highlight the importance of accountability within the community.
✅ Encourage caring for one another as sons and daughters of God.
✅ Foster a sense of belonging—especially for some of the newer YFC members.

To emphasize the message, Zoe played a video on the ‘Road to Emmaus’, illustrating how Jesus walks with us through challenges, even when we don’t recognize His presence. The video reminded everyone that God is always with us, guiding us through life’s uncertainties.
Following the video, Zoe asked what insights they gained. Christine shared how the disciples’ experience brought them closer to Jesus, a sentiment that resonated with many.

The ‘Buddy Watch’ Activity: Walking in Faith Together
Zoe then introduced an interactive pairing activity to help YFCs deepen connections within their households. Each participant was paired with their household mates (or grouped in threes if necessary) for a walk-and-talk session.
Pairs and groups took their time either walking together or finding a cozy spot to chat, sharing thoughts on faith, family, school, friendships, and personal growth. The session lasted about 40–45 minutes, allowing for genuine and heartfelt conversations.

Personal Reflections: What YFCs Gained from ‘Buddy Watch’
After regrouping, participants shared their takeaways:
💬 Elyza: “Very much needed.” She described the session as insightful and refreshing, especially after returning from a two-month holiday.
💬 Iyaries: She found the experience “refreshing and fun”, making new friends in YFC.

💬 Luis & Isaac: They discovered they had opposite personalities yet complemented each other well—plus, they shared a funny moment of running laps around the building!
💬 Denn & Freone: Their conversation felt like talking to a “brother from another mother,” as they bonded over family, faith, and friendship.

💬 Nat: “Bro, where were you guys during the holidays?!” Nat expressed how deeply he connected with Vince and Lance, appreciating their support and willingness to listen.
💬 Irish: “During the school holidays, Abi and I talked a lot, but when we met again for our walk in faith, our conversations were completely different. We still had so much to share, yet none of it was what we had talked about before.”

Final Thoughts: The Power of Brotherhood and Sisterhood
Zoe wrapped up the talk by reinforcing that God speaks to us through the people He places in our lives. Even when we don’t realize it, our buddies can be instruments of God’s love and encouragement. She closed with a bible verse from 1 Thessalonians 5:11:
“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do.”
A heartfelt prayer over the YFCs followed, asking for growth in relationships, strength in silent battles, and deeper faith in God. The YFCs responded with a big round of applause in gratitude for Zoe’s inspiring message.
