TWR (Theme Weekend Retreat) Echo 2024

The recently concluded TWR with the theme of “Humility and Obedience in Christ” began with a heartfelt worship led by Bro. Mark Macabagdal, setting the tone for a series of enlightening sessions focused on embracing humility and obedience in our lives as followers of Christ. A poignant “washing of the feet” activity was conducted, reflecting Jesus’ profound humility and sacrificial love.

SESSION 1: THE SLAVE GOD

Speaker: Bro. Richard Alorro

The talk on “The Slave God” aims to define Kenosis as the humility of Christ and illustrate Jesus’ voluntary self-emptying despite His divinity. It encourages participants to reflect on their own self-emptying to align with God’s will in their lives. Key messages include Jesus’ divine descent from heaven to become human out of love, His role as the Servant King who came to serve rather than be served, and the call for us to imitate Christ’s humility by emptying ourselves of pride and self-centeredness to serve God and others.

SESSION 2: THE OBEDIENT KING
Speaker: Bro. Carlos Jamito

The talk on “The Obedient King” aims to illustrate Christ’s unwavering obedience to the Father’s will, identify obstacles to complete obedience, and encourage participants to elevate their obedience to God. Key messages include Jesus’ perfect use of freedom in obeying God’s will, the challenges posed by Satan to divert us from God’s path, and the importance of love as the foundation of true obedience. By following Christ’s example, we are called to trust and surrender to God’s will, overcoming temptations through His grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.

SESSION 3: THE CALL TO SERVANTHOOD
Speaker: Bro. William Gevana

The Call to Servanthood” emphasizes Jesus’ example of selfless service, urging participants to emulate His humility and obedience. Key messages include following Jesus’ example by prioritizing the needs of others, embracing a community of servants who deny themselves for Christ’s sake, and understanding that humility and obedience lead to spiritual exaltation and blessings in Christ.


SESSION 4: AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD

This session focuses on recalling God’s faithfulness to families throughout history, urging participants to embrace God’s plan for their families, and encouraging them to serve the Lord together. Key messages include God’s consistent faithfulness to families from the beginning, His divine design for family rooted in His image, and the power of the Holy Spirit empowering families to serve as beacons of Christ’s light and love.
